Plastic granulators can come either with soundproofing (sound deadening) panels or without.  But when you buy a granulator with soundproofing and what is the real cost of it?

If your granulator is in a separate room or is a slow speed granulator, you probably don't need to have soundproofing. If the noise is not something that has people in close contact and is fed via conveyor or is in a separate part of the plant it is probably not necessary.

But what about when your granulating next to your production area where the main process is occurring?  Then it is a good idea to spend the money on the soundproofing upfront to protect your employees' hearing and to avoid breaking federal, state or local laws.

We had one customer of ours that was running ten granulators and the newest one that they purchased was the only one with soundproofing.  When the regulators came in, they were above the sound threshold for noise on all of the other grinders. Since they were found in violation of the law, they now have to have regular safety checks, offer multiple options for sound protection to the employees and to fill out regular paperwork. The customer lamented that if they would have only paid the money upfront for soundproofed granulators, they would have saved time and money in the end.

We offer new and used granulators with or without soundproofing to fit all of our customers needs.

If you're looking for a new soundproofed granulator, ask us about our Virtus Series C Compact Soundproofed Granulators.  The C30, C50 and C70 are great machines that result in an extremely quiet operation. virtus logo 2
