Can I return equipment if it is not what I expected?

Arlington typically offers the Machinery Dealers National Association (MDNA) return privilege on equipment that ships from our warehouse in Lake Zurich, IL.  The MDNA return privilege might not apply if the machinery if heavily discounted during negotiations.  The MDNA return privileged does not apply to machinery that is brokered by Arlington Machinery.

Does your equipment include a warranty?

All equipment is quoted as-is.  Some machinery has been tested at Arlington but carries no warranty once it ships out of our facility.  If we have installed new components on a piece of equipment, there may be a pass-through warranty.  If a warranty is important to you, we can proactively replace used components with new components prior to shipping.  These details can be worked out with your salesperson.

Can I inspect the machinery?

In most cases, the machinery is available to be inspected in person. We can arrange a video inspection for our in-stock equipment.

Brokered machinery can be inspected as well but might require some additional planning due to the seller’s schedule and in some cases, Covid-19 safety concerns.

Has your machinery been tested?

Our machinery is tested on a case-by-case basis.  Due to the volume of equipment that we sell, we cannot test every piece.  Typically, if we have tested a machine, there will be a link to a video in both the quote and on the website.  If you do not see a video for the machine you are interested in, please ask your salesperson about testing.  We sell a lot of as-is machinery to customers who want to do work themselves so please let your salesperson know how you want to buy the equipment.

What is included in the testing?

This also varies on a machine by machine basis.  It might be as basic as testing the main motor or as extensive as testing multiple components on a machine.  For example, on an extruder, we will test the main motor, main drive, temperature controllers, heaters, and blower motors.

Does the price include loading?

If the machine is shipping from our main warehouse in Lake Zurich, IL loading is included.  Most pieces shipping from our warehouse are skidded at no additional charge. There might be a charge to skid oversized equipment.  If the equipment is being sold from a location other than our main warehouse, there might be rigging and loading costs.  This is especially true with large tonnage molding machines.

Does the price include shipping?

No, all of our equipment is sold either ex-works or FOB.  You are responsible for freight.  Your salesperson can connect you with the logistic companies that we use when we bring equipment into our warehouse.  We can help you arrange LTL, partial load flatbeds, dedicated vans, and dedicated flatbeds.

When can the machinery ship after we buy it?

This varies depending on what you are buying and how you are buying it.  If the machine is shipping from our warehouse, we typically need four to seven days to prepare the machine for shipping.  If we are doing work to the machine, there is usually additional lead time.  If it is machine that is being sold from another location, we might also have to coordinate with riggers which may add to shipping time.  In some cases, the seller is waiting on a new machine so availability maybe be several weeks or months from the date of sale.  Please let your salesperson know when you need the machine and we’ll do our best to make it happen.

Is this machine turn-key?

Most of the equipment we sell works within a bigger process.  We try to describe our machines as accurately as possible.  Some machines are sold as-is and some are sold tested, but there is still a good chance that the machine will require additional modifications to meet your process requirements.  We highly recommend having your process engineer involved in the decision-making process.  We may be able to make modifications prior to shipping, if we know early on in the buying process.

Do you install the equipment?

We do not offer field service.  You will need to have your own staff install the equipment or contract with local millwrights, control electricians, and consultants.  Depending on where you are located, we might be able to refer you to the right crew for your install.
