Used Sheet Extrusion Lines For Sale

Used Plastic Sheet Extrusion Lines for Sale

Arlington Machinery buys and sells used plastic sheet extrusion lines from manufacturers including Welex, PTi, Davis-Standard, Milacron, and Kuhne. Sheet extrusion systems serve two broad markets: thin-gauge sheet for foodservice and packaging and heavy-gauge sheet for industrial and durable products. The right equipment depends on the material, finished sheet dimensions, production requirements, and downstream processing method.

Thin-Gauge Sheet Extrusion for Foodservice and Packaging

Thin-gauge sheet extrusion lines produce material used to thermoform food containers, beverage cups, trays, and other consumer packaging. Common resins include PET, polypropylene (PP), polystyrene (PS/HIPS), and PLA. Sheet is typically wound into rolls for later thermoforming or fed directly into an inline thermoforming system. These lines emphasize consistent thickness, controlled cooling, and high-volume production, with clarity and surface quality important for many packaging applications.

Heavy-Gauge Sheet Extrusion for Industrial Applications

Heavy-gauge sheet extrusion lines produce thicker sheet for applications such as automotive components, appliance parts, construction panels, pallets, and industrial products. Common materials include ABS, HDPE, HIPS, and acrylic (PMMA). Heavy-gauge sheet is generally cut to length and stacked rather than wound into rolls. Depending on the application, lines may also include embossing equipment to add texture or lamination equipment to apply decorative or protective surface layers.

Main Components of a Plastic Sheet Extrusion Line

Not only does Arlington sell and advertise complete lines, we also carry in-stock, ready-to-ship components

Component

Function

Extruder

Melts and mixes the plastic using a rotating screw or screws inside a temperature-controlled barrel, then delivers the melt to the downstream equipment. Screw design and extruder configuration must suit the resin and required output.

Screen Changer

Holds filter screens that remove solid contaminants from the molten plastic. Screen-changing arrangements vary, with some designs allowing filtration to continue during screen replacement. These are called Continuous Screen Changers

Melt Pump

When equipped, meters molten plastic to the die at a consistent rate. It helps stabilize flow and pressure, supporting uniform sheet thickness.

Sheet Die

Distributes the molten plastic across a wide, flat opening to form a continuous sheet. Adjustable die lips help control the thickness profile across the sheet width.

Roll Stack

Receives the hot sheet from the die and cools it against temperature-controlled rolls. Roll spacing, speed, and surface finish help establish sheet thickness, flatness, and appearance.

Roll Temperature-Control System and Oil-Based and Water-Based TCUs

Circulates temperature-controlled water or oil through the rolls to add or remove heat. Consistent roll temperatures support controlled cooling and repeatable sheet quality.

Cooling Conveyor

Supports the sheet after the roll stack and provides additional cooling distance before finishing. Some configurations incorporate auxiliary cooling rolls.

Pull Rolls / Haul-Off

Draw the sheet through the downstream equipment at a controlled speed. Their operation is coordinated with the extrusion process to maintain stable sheet handling.

Edge Trimmers / Slitters

Trim the sheet edges to the required finished width or divide the sheet into narrower webs, depending on the production setup.

Winder, Shear, and Stacker

Finishing equipment determines how the sheet is collected. Winders produce rolls, while shears cut sheet to length and stackers organize the cut sheets for handling and further processing.
