Hapman has been in the business of moving dry, bulk materials efficiently since the mid-20th century, starting out in 1945 in Detroit, Michigan, with Henry Hapman’s invention of the Tubular Drag Conveyor. Over time, Hapman expanded its equipment lineup to include a variety of conveyors, feeders, bag-handling systems, and custom material handling solutions. Their goal has always been simplicity, reliability, and getting materials from A to B without too much fuss.
One of their standout products is the Helix Flexible Screw Conveyor, first introduced in 1977. What makes it special is its design: a screw (auger) that rotates inside a fixed tube, which allows flexible routing, relatively low cost, and easy maintenance. It’s used in lots of industries (food, pharmaceuticals, plastics, etc.) for conveying powders, flakes, pellets, granules, and other light to medium bulk solids. Key features often include options for different screw/auger types (flat wire, round wire, etc.), the ability to run at inclines, hygienic or easy-clean designs, and modularity to adapt to different facility layouts.
They are also the creators of The TubePro™, which is a fully enclosed drag conveyor system that gently pulls material through a pipe using a chain with attached “flights” (disc-like carriers). Because it moves things slowly and keeps the material away from noisy or abrasive contact, it reduces wear, energy usage, and material breakdown. It’s built heavy-duty — using thick schedule pipe, sealed joints, and strong interlocked flanges — so the system can stand up to tough settings.
This conveyor is designed to handle all sorts of bulk solids: powders, pellets, flakes, friable/blended materials, sticky or high moisture content material, etc. The enclosed design helps with dust control, odor containment, and keeping the plant cleaner. Plus, because the layout is modular — bends, inlets, discharge points, vertical or horizontal routing- it can be adapted to many facility designs.
