Cyclones are designed to capture dust, fines (small particles) and even fibrous materials generated during plastic handling, shredding and conveying. By removing these particles cyclones prevent clogging and damage to filters in subsequent filtration systems like baghouses. This extends the life of those filters and reduces maintenance costs. Cyclones work by creating a cyclonic (spinning) motion in a cylindrical chamber. As dust laden air or gas enters tangentially, centrifugal force throws heavier particles against the walls and they lose velocity and fall to the bottom hopper for collection.
